In August 2019, the Reverend Dr. S. David Cox was called to serve as the rector of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission, KS. — at the intersection of Mission, Prairie Village, and Overland Park.
Fr. David grew up in Kingsport in the northeast corner of Tennessee. He was raised in the Baptist Church, attended a Baptist college, and received a minor in Baptist Studies before attending a Presbyterian seminary.
After the completion of further graduate study (ending with a Ph.D. in Religion and Ethics from Vanderbilt) and five years of teaching at the community college level, Fr. David was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 2012. He was called to serve as an Associate Priest at St. Michael in 2013, becoming the head Rector in 2019.
Fr. David is married to Amy Cox, an Episcopal priest and licensed clinical counselor. Together they have raised two children, Abby (22) and Simon (18).
